Privacy Policy for Blute
Summary
Blute is an offline app. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any
personal data. All information you enter stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to
export it.
Data We Collect
None. Blute does not have analytics, crash reporting, advertising SDKs, or any
network code that sends data to us or to any third party.
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The app stores the following data only on your device, in its private application storage:
- Songs you add (title, raga, taal, genre, singer, composer, notes, ratings, flute scale, Sa
position, tempo, and the other musical details you record) - Labels, genres, and categories you create
- Playlists you create, and which songs are in them
- Practice history (the dates you marked songs as practiced — dates only, never the time of
day) - Your practice queue for today
- App preferences (theme, card density, metronome sound and taal, tanpura scale, the flute you
have in hand, whether to keep the screen awake, and the media folder path) - Sheet music, audio and video files you choose to attach, copied into the app’s own media

This data never leaves your device through the app.

Backup and Restore
When you tap Export Backup, Blute creates a JSON file containing your song data.
You choose where that file goes (Google Drive, OneDrive, local folder, email, etc.) using
Android’s standard share or save dialog. The app has no involvement in, or visibility into, what
happens to that file after you hand it off to another app or service. Those destinations have
their own privacy policies.
When you Restore from Backup, you pick a JSON file yourself; Blute reads it and
merges its contents into your local database.
Children’s Privacy
Blute does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13. The app is safe
for general audiences.
Third-Party Services
Blute does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or cloud services. Fonts
bundled in the app (Noto Sans Devanagari, Nunito via Google Fonts) are packaged locally and do
not make network requests.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this policy, the updated version will be posted at the same URL —
https://charans.org/blute-privacy/ — with a new
effective date. Material changes will be noted in the Google Play listing.
